NOTE: Blackboard 9’s performance—especially on the Grade Center—is dependent upon the processing power of the computer you use. For optimal performance, we suggest that you close any unnecessary programs, tabs, or browser windows.

  1. In Grade Center, click Manage to access the drop-down menu.
  2. Select Grading Periods.
  3. Click Create Grading Period.

TIP: You can choose to automatically associate your Grading Period with all columns that are due within the date range.

  1. Enter a name and select the date range for the Grading Period.
  2. Click Submit.

Summary:
After creating Grading Periods, you can associate each column with a different grading period. So why would you do this? For example, do you have a large Grade Center with quite a few columns? After establishing grading periods you can later select only those columns within a particular grading period for display. Thus improving the speed with which the Grade Center re-draws.
